THEORETICAL ORIENTATION

My strongest belief as a practitioner is that no two people are the same. What is suitable for one person may not be right for another. Similarly, what is right for an individual at one point in their life may be different from what is beneficial at a different point in their life. This principle guides my practice by allowing me to approach each person as an individual. In doing so I can call upon my psychological expertise, clinical experience, training and knowledge of evidence based treatment models to tailor treatment and interventions.

The therapeutic models of which I am trained in include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person-Centred/ Experiential (P-C/E), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Polyvagal Informed Therapy, and The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy. I also draw upon elements of Schema Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy. Each model is specialised to treat specific psychological and emotional difficulties. However, elements from the different models can be integrated to deliver an individualised treatment experience.
